Today started with Corinne leaving for work and me fixing breakfast and taking the kids to gymnastics. Breakfast was basically eggs and hashbrowns but they were not a fan at all, however, they did both drink their vitamin shake. so this is how they are getting their vitamins... I take some of our amazing instant meal shake stuff and put it in the blender then I put in the contents of all the vitamin capsules we need to take, basically making it taste like vitamins (yuk). I make it small though so they only need to take like two drinks and its gone. Abigail was fine, she says that it tastes bad but she will drink it anyway because it is good for her, but Ian took a little convincing but he drank it just fine. Just so you know, this whole breakfast thing is nothing new for my kids, they are some of the pickiest eaters on the planet and they change their mind every 5 seconds.
Lunch was awesome, zucchini "noodles" with sauteed shrimp all seasoned together. the kids polished their plates! So did I. This is one for the books for sure. we were all crazy hungry by afternoon because that is what eating good real food does to you. The body processes it quickly and efficiently, then uses all the good stuff and starts begging for more, oh and your metabolism starts going through the roof which makes you more hungry all the time. makes me feel 14 again... kinda. Anyway, so we went back to the basics and busted out the snack in style... Corinne made some awesome chocolate-almond butter cookie things and then I went and stocked up on triscuits (totally candida friendly) while she made this avocado-black bean-tomato dip thing. I took some to work and polished it off and apparently it went pretty fast around here too. The kids each consumed a box of triscuits, probably not advised but it went with ubber healthy dip so whatever. So far not much whining. We have been prepping them for a few weeks though and things aren't really very different than they normally are. Dinner, I hear was another challenge. but i had a piece of the yummy chicken-artichoke pizza a bit ago and am totally looking forward to taking to work for lunch. First day is in the bag and all seems to be running normal. It will be interesting to see how Ian responds to the death reaction (basically the last efforts of the yeast to get you to feed it) I had weird cravings the first time and didn't feel real well. It all goes down by day 9. Here's to your health!
I'm so stoked you're blogging about this. I am so interested to see how it goes with your family. I am convinced my family needs to do this- but I need to do a lot more research and get the help of a dietician/nutritionist for the kids. I'm also concerned b/c our diet needs are messed up with all the crazy food allergies (ie, D. & I can't do eggs or milk or nuts- so we are very very limited!).
ReplyDeleteWe are also a bit limited because Ian and Corinne cannot have any dairy. There are some "legal" dairies that really help. we would die without eggs and nuts though because our milk is nuts and eggs are... well, eggs. keep track and feel free to ask any questions you want. If I can't answer them, I know who can.
