Seems like more than 2 days. Our schedule is starting to normalize which means I am gone at work most of the time (0630-2000 today). Corinne was in charge of convincing them the drink their vitamins and preparing all the meals today. She is not a fan of being forceful, especially with Ian. She experimented with the vitamins that have liquid in them, having them just chew on them. They have always like chewing on the little Vitamin D capsule but apparently the rest are yucky. The jury is still out on Evening Primrose Oil, but the rest are a no-go. She also wanted me to note that it was a very whiny day, maybe one of the most whiny ever. They were pretty good about meals and definitely snacks. They love talking about their diet. Ian asked me tonight if when the diet was over he could have cow milk cheese. Oh and wanted to know if Mama could have some too. I told him he could try it to see if it made his tummy crazy. Then he said we could throw away our coconut cheese, to which Abigail was quick to correct him that it was actually almond cheese and no because she really likes it. So we are settling in for the long haul, everyone having psychological cravings just because we can't have it.
I also had a little family meeting tonight to talk about what we are doing. we all sat down in the living room to listen to daddy talk. I realized the magnitude of what the family is doing and why we are doing it. It should be a once in a lifetime thing and they should understand how proud I am of them for doing this. I decided that there should be some sort of monument that will symbolize, for quite some time, what they have done. I decided that money should be no object for something this rare and they agreed. We will be buying a backyard park when we are finished. Slides, swings, rock wall, anything and everything they want on it.
So that is how today went. I almost ran out of food at work but managed to pull through. 10 hours of food for me is a really big lunch box (also known as a refrigerator, lol).
Here's to our health
Apparently we had a bag of apples that we had not gotten rid of yet and we found one with a small bite mark in it. no one is fessing but we presume Ian. fortunately it is only day 2. lessons learned.
ReplyDeleteSo, question- you said this should be a once in a lifetime thing. Are you saying that you shouldn't have to go back on this diet again at some point? I've gotten the impression (from naturopaths) that it is a lifetime change....
ReplyDeleteThis particular diet is to eradicate and control the candida yeast in our system. As long as we eat right and exercise, practice moderation in other things and keep our immune system strong, we shouldn't have to do something this extreme again. Healthy living is a decision we made long ago, this diet is going to enable us to live healthy and actually have our bodies respond to it. Kinda like hitting the refresh button.
ReplyDeleteSo what diet changes are you having to make that will be permanent? I assume less sugar (ie: no soda), but will you all go back to eating fruits and such after the 30-days? I find this fascinating b/c I know my family needs it too....
ReplyDeleteYeah, absolutely. we actually have some test days where we are supposed to eat fruit and see if any symptoms come back and then one for breads. Once the yeast is dead and under control we can be "normal" again. no one in my family drinks sodas anyway. The big things that we have already changed are juicing, we juice like crazy. we try to stick with organic when possible but we don't get bent out of shape about it. We don't eat garbage (fast food, except tacobell on occasion, i love that place). mostly just living healthy and being educated on what makes our bodies work and giving it that.
ReplyDeleteSo good to know. Thank you!
